About Us

Formed in 1999, we will be entering our 18th year as a club sport at Avon Grove High School in the 2016-2017 season. In the 2015-2016 season, we moved from playing in the the Delaware Scholastic Hockey Association (DSHA) league, where we played for the previous three years, back to the Inter County Scholastic Hockey League (ICSHL) in the newly formed South Division. 

We are an all-volunteer parent run organization.  Our board consists of a president, vice-president, treasurer, sectratary and team manager. We also have a league representative who attends all league meetings.  There are many volunteer opportunities for parents throughout the season and we would not continue to exist without parental involvment.

Our team philosophy encourages the following three “H’s”:1) Hard work-100% effort, 2) Head’s up hockey (Play smart) and 3) Have fun.  The team is more important than the individual players.  We win, lose, or tie as a team.  By developing your hockey skills, understanding your position/role on the team, and by working hard, you will improve as a player. Others will improve as a result of your hard work.  A positive attitude is a must!

Recent accolades include 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 DSHA League Champions, 2013-2014 DSHA 2nd Place, 2014 Summer League Champions 2015-2016 ICSHL South Division Champions.
 

In December of every year, Avon Grove Ice Hockey invites their alumni back for a friendly game on the ice and camaraderie off the ice.  Each year, this number has grown and in the past two years, over 30 alumni have traveled back to the Avon Grove area, put on their AG jersey and hit the ice with fellow teammates.  If you are an alum, and are not receiving information on the game, please let us know so we can update your information.

For well over a  decade, a bell has been brought to center ice at the end of the Senior Farewell Game.  In 2003, through a generous donation, a permanent bell was purchased.

In the presence of their teammates, family and friends, the bell has been rung by graduating seniors, once for every year they have participated in the hockey program at Avon Grove.  The names of the seniors are engraved and permanently placed on the base of the trophy, beside the names of the past graduating ice hockey teammates.

The bell resides in the trophy case at Avon Grove High School as a constant reminder to the players, faculty and student body of the hard work and dedication these athletes have brought to the sport of ice hockey.
